Many people buy a towel that feels soft in the store, only to find that after a few washes it becomes thin, rough, or lifeless. Sound familiar? Then there’s one number you should know before ever buying a towel again: grams per square meter (g/m²).
What does a towel’s weight tell you?
The weight — also called GSM (grams per square meter) — indicates how thick and densely woven a towel is. A towel of 300–400 g/m² is light and dries quickly, but feels less luxurious. 500–600 g/m² is the sweet spot for those looking for both quality and comfort. Our towels weigh 550 g/m²: exactly that firm, full feeling you know from hotels.
Why 550 g/m² feels different at Miss Towels
Weight alone doesn’t determine quality — it also depends on how the towel is woven and the type of cotton used. We use 100% long-fiber combed cotton from Portugal, which creates stronger, softer fibers that produce very little lint and absorb moisture exceptionally well. Combined with a dense weave, the towel feels thick yet flexible — not stiff or heavy, but pure comfort.
Is heavier always better?
Not necessarily. A towel weighing 700 g/m² may be heavier, but it can feel bulky and take much longer to dry. A well-designed 550 g/m² towel offers the same luxurious experience without sacrificing practicality or durability.
Experience the difference yourself
Not sure whether 550 g/m² really makes a difference? Try it yourself. Our bath towels combine the softness of a luxury hotel with the convenience of home — honest, durable, and designed to last for years.
