Everyone has them at home, but not everyone is happy with them: bath towels. They come in all shapes and sizes, yet the same frustrations often keep coming back. The good news is that with the right knowledge, many of these problems are easy to prevent — or solve.
1. Towels that become rough
After a few washes, your towel suddenly feels stiff and scratchy. The cause? Often the use of fabric softener. While it seems like it would make towels softer, it actually coats the fibers and makes them less flexible. Tip: Skip fabric softener and occasionally add a splash of natural vinegar to your wash.
2. Poor absorbency
A towel should absorb moisture — not repel water. Cheap bath towels or synthetic blends often lack proper absorbency. Choose 100% combed cotton with a weight of at least 550 g/m² for optimal drying performance.
3. Unpleasant odors
Towels that still smell musty, even after washing? This usually happens when they’re washed at too low a temperature or when they don’t dry properly after use. Wash towels at 60°C when possible and make sure they can air out properly after use.
4. Lint and dust
New towels may release lint, especially if they are made from lower-quality terry fabric. At Miss Towels, the fabric is finished extra carefully, which means most lint disappears after the first few washes.
5. Towels that wear out too quickly
If a towel loses its shape and thickness within a year, it’s often a sign of poor quality. Double-stitched edges and tightly woven terry fabric ensure your towels last for years.
